Chapter 2 summary but in my career
A lot of what I got out of chapter two is how we need to stay connected and also stay updated on everything about our career. I want to be an Orthodontist and I was just recently talking to people about how they constantly read up on the latest information about Dentistry. They constantly have to practice their techniques and also try and connect with the patients that come in. When I say "connect" I am talking more about just little talk about what's wrong, what do you do, where did you go, etc. You want to have that small connection so people not only feel comfortable with you, but recommend you to others, and come back as a patient. You want to spread your name out there and be recognized. My Orthodontist now is all over billboards and on the radio, he is spreading his name and connecting with many people. That is a big part of being successful.

I understand what you mean with connecting with others and feeling comfortable with clients and patients. I can relate to this with my future career with design. I want to learn to connect with my clients to better understand their needs of work and to also make me stand out as an artist as well keep updating with the new trends in the world.
ReplyDeleteBeing able to know how to connect with your patients is truly going to assist you in your career. I agree with your perspective on connecting with people within your profession. I as well will have to connect with kids in my future career and learn how to interact with parents, as I am pursuing a life as a kindergarten teacher.
ReplyDeleteI agree that a connection with your patients is an asset to building a business, especially in a field such as orthodontia. After all, it's widely said that the most effective form of advertisement is word of mouth. While billboards and radio ads are great, I find that I am much more likely to visit a business that has been recommended to me by friends or family.
ReplyDeleteIn my career, I am connecting more with the public as a single bodied unit rather than specific individuals as well as connecting with local governments. I want the public to be confident that I am doing my best to serve their interests while also ensuring that the government is pleased with my work.
I agree staying connected and up to date on changing aspects of our careers is very important to being successful in any profession. It can only make a person more successful at what they do when they have up to date material and are constantly learning. It is important to stay on top of trends and things that are popular so the connection with patients, clients, or students is always there. Connections in the workplace are so important in being a successful professional and understanding the needs of the population you'll be working with.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you are saying, and love that you want to be an orthodontist. I think its great that you want to form a connection with your patients! I know if I went somewhere where there was conversation and small talk would make me a lot more comfortable than being with someone who is just there to get the job done.
ReplyDeleteI can see what you said when you were talking about connecting with your patients. I agree that it is not only important to form a bond with the people, but create a platform to be recognized through trust. I also agree with the fact that you need to keep up with the latest technology and techniques. This goes for almost every job.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you are saying about constantly practicing techniques and connecting with your patients. I am also going into the healthcare field, so both of these things will apply to me in my career as well. I also like how you want to be recognized and spread your name to reach as many patients as possible.
ReplyDeleteConnecting with your patients is very important because that generosity, curiosity, and that welcoming feeling is what is going to bring your patients back. I totally understand how technology plays a huge role in getting your name out to the world but hearing it from an actual person, makes your recommendation 10 times better.
